An XRF spectrometer provides simultaneous analysis of a wide range of elements. Handheld versions provide the addition benefits of portability for use in any environment. It allows bringing the lab to the sample instead of bringing the sample to the lab, to analyze samples of any size from very large to small , and to perform analysis in extreme environments such as hot in-service petroleum piping.
